Five year old boy exchanges Christmas card funds to raise £120 for foodbank

24th December 2018

Five year old Jacob Cropley, who attends Oulton Broad primary school, was given £10 to buy Christmas cards and was asked by his mum Rachel if he’d like to donate it to something else this year instead.

Jacob decided that he wanted to give his money to the Lowestoft Foodbank, but rather than just donate the £10 he took on an entrepreneurial spirit and suggested they could ask friends and family to donate too.

Jacob made a poster and a short video to encourage donations and so far has raised a grand total of £120 which has been used to purchase much needed emergency food supplies.

When asked why he wanted to donate to the foodbank Jacob said “I was worried that some people might not have any food to eat this Christmas”.

Jacob and his mum delivered the food to the Lowestoft Foodbank earlier this month which was gratefully received and will help to feed people who are in real need and at risk of going hungry this Christmas.
